I have noticed this too. Updating custom GPTs removes them from the "Pinned" section. There is also a pinned items limit that may or may not get silently enforced and the "Pinned" section only gets updated when you refresh pages. You would think they could afford to vibe code themselves a better UI at nearly 1 trillion valuation...
When I see things like this - it makes me think that whomever is making these changes... doesn't actually use the product. It also means that whoever is APPROVING the changes either doesn't use the product, or they are changing more rapidly than they can effectively execute. (latter is a high suspect on my board - dev teams driven by priorities that have nothing to do with quality)...
Are your ChatGPT pinned chats, GPTs, or Projects still easy to find after the sidebar change, or did this update break part of your AI workflow too?
FYI - I keep pinning, and (inevitably) each day one or another is somehow "magically" unpinned.
While we are this update, have you tried creating a new project yet?
